UN-Women possesses unparalleled global influence, having extended its support to 95 countries and territories in 2020, spanning diverse economic backgrounds. Its commitment to advancing gender equality and promoting women's empowerment is evident not only in collaboration with governments but also through impactful partnerships with United Nations sister agencies, country teams, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and the general public. Serving as a strong advocacy voice, UN-Women stands as a conduit for amplifying women's concerns and priorities on a global scale.
By maintaining close connections with grassroots women's organizations, UN-Women not only gains a profound understanding of the most pressing global issues but also positions itself as a catalyst for ensuring that women's voices are not only heard but also acknowledged and addressed within the United Nations framework.
The Board consists of 41 members: 10 from African States; 10 from Asian States; 4 from Eastern
European States; 6 from Latin American and Caribbean States; 5 from Western Europe and Other
States; and 6 from top contributing countries.
Starting today, the Executive Board of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women will hold its First Regular Session 2024 (February 12-13 @ 10am EST). The Executive Board governs the operational activities of UN-Women and provides operational policy guidance to the Entity.
Organizational matters will include the adoption of:
the annotated provisional agenda and workplan for the first regular session 2024
the annual workplan for 2024
the report on the second regular session 2023
